Nutrition and Public Health Education Programs at Mikiga
Increased nutrition improves infant, child, and maternal health, strengthens the immune systems, results in safer pregnancy and childbirth, and lowers the risk of infectious and non-infectious diseases (World Health Organization).
This week, Mango Project board member, Cathy Nafula, brought her colleague, Abba Esther, to learn about the Nutrition and Public Health Education programs of Mikiga and The Mango Project!
Abba works with international aid organizations to provide support to refugee and host communities of Uganda, and these pictures capture how excited she was about the grassroots nutrition and community health education programs of Mikiga!
In a week filled with global conflict and tragedy we are grateful to report that local nutrition and community health programs are growing in Northern Uganda.
We are so proud of the collaboration with diverse communities of Yumbe and the amazing work of the women and men of Mikiga!!!
